There's a one of a kind experiences open for business in Rhode Island that one might compare to a fairy tale.
For the last 36 months, construction has been happening on "The Preserve at Boulder Hills Club and Residences," which is located off Kingstown Road in Richmond.
"The Preserve is a unique four-season sporting experience unlike anything else that we've seen in America today," said Paul Mihailides, the chairman of The Preserve at Boulder Hills. "This is a place that has something for everyone, I'm excited about everything we've created here and everything our team has worked so hard on."
Located on 3,500 acres, besides acting as asporting club and luxury residential community, dining is also exclusively available alongside other experiences which include the "hobbit homes" that have been built in stone.
"We will have five hobbit homes," said Mihailides. "Three are under construction two are completed. They are always themed, right now the themed hobbit house is the pumpkin patch which will also be decorated for Thanksgiving and then Christmas and we actually do it in spring too with tulips."
Members of the club get priority when it comes to booking an experience at the hobbit house, but the public is welcome to do so, too.
The "themed" hobbit house can host a few people inside for birthday parties or small get togethers.
They were built with the intention to do so, it's been booked a few times already which included a photoshoot.
"If you want to have a glass of wine or rent it with people you love, The Ocean House team can put together a wonderful dinner for four in that hobbit house, or s’mores, or a party for your kids like fairies. It's for everybody to enjoy," said Mihailides.
Around the corner and up a hill from that hobbit house, is another one that looks different and is sponsored by Maker's Mark.
Guests of up to eight people in a group can reserve the "Maker's Mark Hobbit House" for lunch or dinner.
The white-glove, four-course set menu includes hints of bourbon with each pairing. A private waiter is assigned when booking.
"When we saw Paul was building these wonderful underground hobbit houses, we thought well we have to do something with them," said Daniel Hostettler, the president of the Ocean House Management Club.
Since December of 2019, the Ocean House Management club has been responsible for daily operations which include the resort and dining experiences.
"I think with COVID this is going to be a huge hit, absolutely," said Hostettler. "This is an opportunity to dine with a group of friends, or your family, in a private atmosphere with your own server taking care of you."
According to its website, the private dining experience at the Maker's Mark Hobbit House will cost $640 for up to four people plus gratuity.
"We had our first guests on Halloween and what better place than to celebrate Halloween," said Hostettler. "We wanted something that you would remember for a lifetime and that's what we're doing here."
"This is an experience that I think not only will exceed everybody's expectation in Rhode Island, but in the country," said Mihailides. "There are people from all over the country booking here."
NBC 10 News asked what the plans are for the additional three hobbit homes being built on the property, but was for now told it's a surprise.
"It's about creating dreams and memories," said Mihailides. "2021 is going to be very exciting at The Preserve."
